This is the heart-stopping moment a car almost smashes into a horse as it attempts a risky overtake on a country road.
The near-miss is one of several shocking incidents caught on camera and posted by Staffordshire Police following 45 deaths on their roads in the last 12 months.
The first-person footage, filmed on top of the horse, shows the animal trotting down the lane when it comes across a white car.
The vehicle patiently waits for the horse to pass along the narrow road safely.
But then, from out of nowhere, a large blue 4x4 car comes from behind and attempts to speed past the horse on the same side of the road as the other vehicle.

A white vehicle patiently waits for the horse to pass along the narrow road safely. But then, from out of nowhere, a large blue 4x4 car comes from behind and attempts to speed past the horse on the same side of the road as the other vehicle
The rider is forced to stop the animal suddenly as the 4x4 makes the risky overtake.
The car narrowly avoids hitting the horse as it squeezes past and moves off into the distance.
The animal then continues trotting slowly and its rider seems to gesture in frustration at the dangerous manoeuvre.
The Highway Code says that drivers must be 'particularly careful' when overtaking horses and always pass widely.
Cars should also lower their speed to less than 10mph and give at least two metres (6ft 6ins) of space.
The clip was released along with other near-misses in a montage of hair-raising incidents created by Staffordshire Police.
The videos were posted on X, formerly Twitter, with the caption: 'As part of our #LookAgain campaign we're sharing a few eye-opening clips of poor and reckless driving behaviours to highlight the potential dangers out there.'
One clip shows dashcam footage of a car entering the village of Forton on a busy road with vehicles travelling at speed.
In another clip a speeding BMW suddenly veers away from its side of the road and looks to be racing towards a head-on collision
The terrifying video sees the BMW swerve back into its lane at the last second, just missing the other car
Another clip shows a driver almost cause a serious accident by driving round a roundabout in the wrong direction
Dashcam video sees a vehicle driving through the roundabout when a big blue van suddenly appears and looks to be heading straight for it. A panicky swerve out of the way only just avoids a pile-up

A couple of gut-wrenching clips show cars completely ignoring red lights, including an incident that takes place just as someone is about to cross the road.
In another bit of footage, a cyclist is peddling along a narrow road when it is almost taken out by a van with a trailer.
The large vehicle acts as if the cyclist is not there leaving less than a yard between it and the woman cycling.

The reckless van almost hits a passing light blue car too as it races along at speed.
A final bizarre but dangerous manoeuvre is shown when a pick-up truck-style Ford attempts to beat a traffic jam but driving on the pavement.
The car, stuck behind a white lorry, mounts the curb and starts driving along the pavement to overtake the vehicle.
Thankfully there were no pedestrians in the car's way and the vehicle avoids mowing down civilians.
The police force released the collection of terrifying clips after a spree of traffic-related deaths in the last year.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson added: 'Over the last year we have seen a high number of fatalities on roads across the county with 45 people sadly losing their lives.

'Every road death is a tragedy and something we want to avoid.
'Through our new road safety campaign, Look Again, we want to reinforce that as drivers we all have the ability to make our roads safer by taking simple actions.
'Whether it's taking a second look for other road users before pulling out at junction, adjusting your speed when driving in a busy town centre, or taking a moment to sense check a manoeuvre before you do it, these actions could save your life - and those of other road users.'
